Class DescriptionsAbsolute Beginners
An easy, welcoming class based on Hatha Yoga. Suitable for everyone, or Yogis returning after a hiatus! Beginner is an excellent introduction to Yoga and all its stress relief and relaxation benefits. Introduces breathing techniques and postures.
Power
An exhilarating Yoga class - helps combat fatigue and stress. Power Yoga is based on Ashtanga - keeping your heart rate elevated with an emphasis on linking your breathing with postures.
Hatha
The classical form of Yoga posture and breathing - revitalizes your physical, mental and spiritual energy. The movements of abdominal contraction and expansion help to detoxify the vital organs as they stimulate the spine, increase muscle tone and flexibility.
Ashtanga
This vigorous, athletic flowing style of yoga is considered the best practice for both mind and body. If you are looking to improve your fitness level and calm your mind, this style of yoga is a good place to start. Ashtanga Yoga ultimately becomes meditation in motion as you develop proficiency. The first six sequences of Ashtanga postures are commonly called the Primary Series or “Yoga Chikitsa" (Yoga therapy). Practice of the primary series is designed to tone, strengthen, balance, cleanse and purify the body.
HOT YOGA
HOT YOGA:
All of the Hot Yoga series are beginners level yoga. Some people may think that because they or somebody they have seen is a bit more flexible that would be considered Intermediate or Advanced and that's not the case. A ballet dancer or gymnast with Zero Yoga experience could probably do many of the poses as good or better. You will enjoy the improvement that you experience irrespective of having yoga experience or not.
Think of HOT YOGA as a chance to leverage the heat to help your body in the practice. I encourage you not to think that it's only for experienced people. This Asana remember has its roots in Hatha,
Practiced in a hot room, this class is for everybody - less intense than the Power yoga but still designed to challenge you from the inside out.Incorporates elements of several styles of yoga that build stamina, strength and flexibility.
Postures are held just a little longer to give you that extra edge..
Bring a towel ,drink plenty of water, sweat out the toxins, refresh and re-vitalize.
VINYASA POWER FLOW YOGA
VINYASA POWER FLOW YOGA
VINYASA POWER FLOW YOGA Classes at OYS are lively, energetic, flowing classes synchronizing breath with movement.

VINYASA POWER FLOW classes do not follow a set sequence of postures. Each class is unique and will vary from teacher to teacher. You can always expect a great cardiovascular and strength building workout combined with breathwork "PRANAYAMA".
Most VINYASA POWER FLOW classes are modeled on the ASHTANGA style of yoga.
The term VINYASA POWER FLOW (Power Yoga) is created by teachers looking to make Ashtanga Yoga more accessible.
Modified versions of more challenging postures will always be given.
